Canada's International Vaccine Donations
Updated: Mar 5, 2022
Canada has pledged millions of doses but has only fulfilled a fraction of what it has promised.

According to the Canadian government, "As of February 25, 2022, over 13.8 million surplus vaccine doses have been delivered through the COVAX Facility. Canada has also shared 762,080 AstraZeneca doses through direct, bilateral arrangements with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean."
The Canadian Government has made an array of promises revolving around vaccine donations including: declaring that they will be sharing all of their extra COVID-19 vaccines, with a goal of donating 200 million doses by the end of 2022.
Canada is donating doses through an international mechanism called COVAX. COVAX is the vaccine a branch of the international organization created to provide equitable access to tools to respond to COVID-19. COVAX is dedicated to providing equitable vaccine distribution. Most of the largest countries in the world are involved in COVAX and have pledged billions of doses and already donated millions to countries in need of surplus vaccines.
